In what kind of league do you get more points for winning on your home turf?
Today Ceri and I shared a platform with three men who openly wept as they each shared a crisis that led them to discover that they were winning away but losing at home.
– A letter from one of their adult children as they took a flight home
– A penetrating question from a teenager that came out of the blue
– An angry exchange with a spouse when all that mattered was to look good
These successful, influential leaders were urging their younger colleagues to prioritise their primary relationships.
To them
– Winning away but losing at home didn’t feel like winning at all
To be honest. I’ve also wept those tears.
It’s never too late to change.
As Rob Parsons would always remind me:
– ‘No one will say on their death bed, “I wish I’d spent more time at the office!”’
What will you wish you had done more of?
– Do a bit more of it TODAY!
